Commission for IISleepyRainbowII and her friend over on Gaia Online.
Did these freebies for peeps over on Gaia over the past few days. Been trying to get into the flow of drawing things again.
Finally caught up with posting my most recently finished cards with my eighth addition to my Tales of Tarot Project: The Magician.
The Magician is in many ways the antithesis of the Fool. While the Fool is confident without care, standing on his unstable precipice with the belief that he’ll be fine, the world-weary Magician is confident because he knows his limitations, where he stands, and where he can go from here. It is a card often associated with precision, practicality, manipulation, and being objective. All things I feel fit Jade’s character very well. Aside from the obvious connection the card presents with his mage-like status in game, doing further research on the card only solidified my decision in choosing him for it.
Drawing this card was very time-consuming and I nearly gave up on the pose entirely because of that hand of his but I somehow managed. Foreshortening is hard. >_< I had fun with Jade’s glasses though. I have a thing for eyeglass chains. :’>
Anyways, as always, comments and opinions on what cards you think would fit certain characters (from Abyss, Graces, or Symphonia) are always welcome. My ask box is always open and any updates to this project can be found on my blog under my Tales of Tarot tag.
My 7th finished card in my Tales of Tarot Project: Strength.
The Strength card is one of the more straightforward cards in the Major Arcana. It’s associated with self-control, perseverance, and profound inner strength. Anise, despite being one of the youngest and more outwardly carefree members of the group in the game, is very self-reliant and has a very adult view of the world due to the circumstances of her home-life in Daath. Her resilience, and for lack of a better word, strength, in the things she deals with in her character arc are nothing short of amazing. It’s hard enough to be an adult and go through the things she goes through. I can only imagine how it feels for someone as young as her.
I had a lot of fun with this card and it was a blast doing the research for the little details. Anise not only represents the card very well, but her and Tokunaga lend to the whole maiden-with-beast motif the card tends to portray almost perfectly. Hope you guys like this one!
As always, comments, constructive criticisms, and opinions on which Abyss/Graces/Symphonia character would fit certain cards are always welcome. My ask box is open. For a look at all the other completed cards as well as any general updates on this project, check out my blog’s Tales of Tarot tag.
After a very long hiatus, I post the first of the cards I’ve neglected to share since I finished my senior creative last year. The 6th card in my Tales of Tarot project: The High Priestess.
The High Priestess is a card often associated with wisdom, common sense, and sound judgement. The figure herself also tends to represent other-wordliness and a break in the norm. All aspects I think suit Tear and her ultimate role in Luke’s life and the events in Tales of the Abyss very well.
This card is a lot simpler than my previous two mostly because at the time, I’d been rushing to get it done. When it comes time to print the final deck, I’ll probably go back to add a few more details.
Anyways, as always, comments and opinions on what cards you think would fit certain characters (from Abyss, Graces, or Symphonia) are always welcome. I plan to post another finished card within the next day or so, so look forward to that! My ask box is always open and any updates to this project can be found on my blog under my Tales of Tarot tag.
